Being a mechanic is in Daniel’s blood. 25 years working in his father's business tells you as much, as does his penchant for pre-war Cadillacs and modern Hellcats. Which is why he has a philosophy built on trust, earned slowly. Tomasz, though, is different. It was the excitement and glamour of seeing cars and racing on TV that initially captured his attention. And it’s a part of why he’s taking on The Big Build: for the adventure, the challenge and the chance to test himself. As a team, they’re a study in contrasts. One man embodies a responsibility to the past while having an eye on the future of the trade, the other is simply happy to be along for the ride. Whatever faces them during The Big Build, Daniel and Tomasz bring years of know-how and a shared determination to do the job right – even against the clock.

The father-and-son team. While Zbigniew brings the experience, his son, Damian, generates the enthusiasm and fresh thinking. Zbigniew believes it’s better to master one brand completely – Renault – than know five badly. Damian takes a more technical approach. With a mechatronics degree, he’s more comfortable embracing diagnostics and the technical understanding that’s needed. They may not always agree on the method, but have both built their careers on knowing one thing better than anyone else. And, as the team’s Renault authorities, they not only have the necessary specialist tools, but also a depth of knowledge that could prove vital as The Big Build unfolds.

What started as a roadside inspection post on a family farm, is now three buildings, thirty years of history and includes a FSO Warszawa 224-era wedding car that's driven three generations of local couples to church. And it’s this sense of time, quiet understanding, and consistency that pervades every aspect of this workshop.

Having decided to divide roles and responsibilities with his brother along mechanical and electronic lines, Sylwester still marvels that his son Dominik, ‘found’ his way into diagnostics in Warsaw, and eventually returned home.

But that’s what rings true about this workshop. Theirs is a story of growth without leaving your roots. They have expanded outward while staying exactly where they started, held together by a love of what they do.

Joining The Big Build team, Sylwester and Dominik will bring with them not only years of technical know-how and insight, but just as importantly, a passion for bringing the old, tired and forgotten, back to life.

This is the mentor-and-protégé story. Grzegorz built his workshop alone in 2016, learning to thrive on the tricky jobs and challenging cases that nobody else wanted. Today, he’s passing this grit and determination on to trainee mechanics in the classroom - and to great acclaim. Working with Paweł, his student, together they've won nationals, while Pawel himself was just named Young Car Mechanic 2026. What really sets them apart is how they view the future. Grzegorz worries openly about the industry closing in on small shops like his. Paweł, though still in the early stages of his career, has the confidence of a winner. Together, their combination of determination and enthusiasm may prove to be pivotal as the days wear on and the clock counts down on The Big Build.
